Here's what some people have been saying about Number Logic! Really good site, and a pleasant suprise. Great site and excellent resource you have. I think it's very cool. I will visit your website again. Thank you! AlanFox - francerot@bluebottle.com May 15 at 9:35 PM @Mathprof Yes, I was messing with the website. BWHAHAA!! Things have been screwed up around here for a little bit. Thankfully they're mostly cleared up (ie; some puzzles not showing up on the Today's and home sections). Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com May 14 at 9:43 AM 1. suddenly newly completed puzzles are being posted only at the BOTTOM of the 'last 5' list; when you complete another puzzle, that # becomes the new bottom of the list. 2. I've tried to post comment #1 three times in the 'lobby chat' but was unable to do so. [can't 'send' it] 3. John can't post new puzzles. 4. think somebody's messing with your website?? mathprof - mfinkel2000@msn.com April 6 at 11:52 PM Alright so I had to see what the hell this was all about. John - "when you appear in Time magazine then we'll talk" What an ass... Actually, not a bad looking website. You get partial credit. TJ - tj4@umbc.edu April 6 at 10:55 AM Ryan ... John ... I really appreciate your efforts to make me younger than I really am in my profile, because I was a real babe magnet when I was 37. Unfortunately, that was 14 years ago. I really am going to be 51 on March 29. My birth certificate will prove it. My wife wants me to enforce it. So, please ... PLLLLLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEEEE!!!!!!convince my profile that my birthday is 3-29-56! namnori - banninggrad1974duke@yahoo.com March 11 at 7:43 PM Hey guys, I completed easy puxxle #1693 twice tonight and didn't get credit for it. It said my solution wasn't correct. What up with that? namnori - banninggrad1974duke@yahoo.com February 23 at 2:11 AM Thanks, Ryan, for changing the 'incomplete' puzzle so it no longer counts as a 'play.' But here I am again with more problems. I completed 406 and 409; they're checked off in my archive, but I didn't get 'credit' for them. Still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. mathprof - mfinkel2000@msn.com February 21 at 11:27 PM Namnori, people like to disable javascript, complete the puzzle, re-enable it, and submit it only a few seconds. 1st time offenders get their times reset and a warning. 2nd time offenders get banned. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com February 19 at 10:17 AM Hey john ... I'm really not saying I'm the fastest sudoku solver in the world ... but I seriously doubt there's anyone around who can solve a sudoku in six seconds! I don't think anyone can type that fast (I know I can't ... between five and six MINUTES is a good time for me)! namnori - banninggrad1974duke@yahoo.com February 19 at 1:18 AM This is getting embarassing. Once again I'm on your doorstep with a puzzle I've completed correctly that's missing that special word -- Won! Please note that in this case I even hold the record time for 314. [well, it's the record for the next 5 minutes, anyway.] What am I doing wrong??? mathprof - mfinkel2000@msn.com February 13 at 6:49 PM thanks for giving me credit for 1635. And one more wish... Sometimes when finishing a puzzle i leave a cell with the # just penciled in instead of 'inked' in. I expect that some others also slip up on this. Could "incomplete" be just a warning instead of counting as a 'try?' thanks again for a great site! mathprof - mfinkel2000@msn.com February 8 at 3:58 PM After 5 months I still love this site! :) I'm hopelessly addicted... Please, Ryan, add space for more 'pencil-ins'. Sometimes I go to another site to get more space for that but it feels disloyal! mathprof - mfinkel2000@msn.com February 2 at 5:26 PM I can't get credit for 1635. I did it correctly a second time last nite after the first time didn't reflect a win on my member page. Second time I got the red "... already done this..." message at the start. Since I hadn't gotten 'won!' the first time, i did it again and got the '...nice effort/try...' but still no 'won!' please help. mathprof - mfinkel2000@msn.com February 2 at 5:12 PM Yo, John ... I really do appreciate your website's efforts to make me younger than I really am on my profile, but I really am 50 YEARS OLD! namnori - banninggrad1974duke@yahoo.com December 12 at 1:12 AM Joko, try putting your cursor in the box you're working on and left-clicking before you type. Works for me (I just need to get a mouse that stays put! LOL) ... good luck! namnori - banninggrad1974duke@yahoo.com November 5 at 3:38 AM Realy I find today an excellent site!!! I am happy to be with other clever persons all over the world. I will try to do the best!!!!!!! krasi_mih - krasi_mih@yahoo.com October 31 at 7:49 AM I can't get the enlarged puzzle to stay and have been unable to enter numbers. Any suggestions? Joko - jokoangel@yahoo.com October 30 at 7:12 PM How could someone legitimately complete a puzzle, regardless of difficulty level, in six seconds? namnori - banninggrad1974duke@yahoo.com October 29 at 11:39 PM Ingo, you are entitled to your opinion, but I would say this is a mental exercise and as such, not a waste of time... Martin - no@way.com September 17 at 2:22 PM How about some additional statistics? A statistic for our winning percentage. Wins divided by Total Plays. "Current Streak" count -- that is how many puzzles you have won in row OR how many puzzles you have lost in a row :-( A tally of puzzle difficulties you've attempted: Easy count, Medium count, Hard, count, Impossible count, Instead of showing the Top 5 Average Times as it is now, why don't you show an adjusted time that takes into account the difficulty level? Those with the best times tend to do only the Easy puzzles. Diane - dspilman@aol.com September 9 at 6:55 PM Grunion, I apologize; this was caused by error. Friendly games NOW DO count towards win counts. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com August 23 at 12:42 AM RV- The averge time is for all times puzzles played, not just the last 5. R- What was the puzzle number? I will reset the time. "Completed Offline" simply marks the puzzle as completed; you don't need to input the answer, as there is only one answer if the puzzle is complete. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com August 21 at 3:31 PM Tech Suport, I completed a impossible level's puzzle offline, but, when I went back to the site to enter the solution, I clicked on "play now" button spite of clicking on the "completed offline" button. Now, I have the best time on puzzle #, wich seems not fair with other players. Can anyone tell me how to erase my time? I already tried to mark the puzzle as completed offline, but didn't workout. Nancy- Currently it's only limited to 3. There's only so much space we can fill in. I can see if I can squeeze in 4 (2x2) though. Sarah- The red numbers mean it's a "hot" puzzle. Yeah, kinda corny, I know. Deb- That information wasn't stored previously due to space constraints. What I can do is keep the time for the last 5 puzzles completed. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com August 19 at 12:10 PM I can see the best time for my completed puzzles but I can't see MY time. Any way to add that? deb - deboriole@yahoo.com August 18 at 11:50 PM I was never sent my confirmation email--how do I get it resent? Thanks. Steph - lmblackjack21@gmail.com August 15 at 8:45 AM REGISTRATION FIXED! To those having issues registering for the website, it has been fixed. We apologize for the inconvenience. Ryan Peters - rpeters@tivilon.com April 25 at 2:40 PM Adam, the issue is being looked into. Email me with the username and password you want in the meantime. Ryan Peters - rpeters@tivilon.com April 23 at 11:35 PM How do I print the answer to the puzzle if I plan to play off line. I use to be able to do it but I can't seem to do it now. marie - mariefred5282@aol.com April 9 at 12:09 PM When I print the puzzle, the numbers dont line up with the boxes. Claire - info@jandcdesigns.com March 8 at 10:41 PM Hey, I can't seem to make my pop-up swatter let me play Sudoku on here! I can't remove it or anything, it's an administrative password I don't have. Is there a reason Sudoku puzzles register as a pop-up? Do you know how I can fix it so I don't submit "0" time on my scores? Thanks... Emily Emily - sssaucy@yahoo.com February 14 at 7:34 AM RH, seems there's a new bug since the transfer happened last night. I'm taking a look into it. Send me an email in the meantime and I will set up your account. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com January 25 at 12:14 PM Being new to web site, I tried to register myself today. Just impossible! It gives all (silly) excuses. Particularly the comment "your email address has been already used for registering..." was definitely cheeky and the limit. I am sure none could have used my email ID by now already. RH - ramakanthegde@hotmail.com January 25 at 5:20 AM I know it's being flaky. I'm taking a look at the server and why it's doing it all of a sudden... Sorry guys... Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com January 18 at 3:30 PM Nooo! The server is broken again! quick, ryan! Fix it!!! Star - ophilye@gmail.com December 22 at 4:37 PM I love the new feature to undo & clear!! Thank you so much!! Star - ophilye@gmail.com December 12 at 1:43 PM I just finished a puzzle with a time of 0:0:0. I didn't notice this until after I was done. Phil - saphiral@adelphia.net December 12 at 10:20 AM LOL. must be a really slow computer. my old pentium 1 laptop doesnt seem to have a problem ;-) Thanks though! :-D Ryan - sameasalways December 9 at 11:11 PM Not a problem. Thanks for the puzzles! I absolutely love the site! Also, I can confirm that it was just the crappy computer at work. Back there now, and there is a slight delay before that "OK" box pops - but it's a REALLY crappy computer. On the other computer I use, it's almost instant. LOL. You need to be quick to do that before the alert comes up to start the game. I added one line that'll fix that in case anyone quick-reflexes like that. Also if you could, use the Report Problem/Feedback link on the main page for submitting bugs or errors. But thank you though, hehe. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com December 7 at 3:39 PM New Puzzle here! Sorry the site is still down here is a medium puzzle to help. Thanks for the idea Star. 0 1 0| 0 3 2| 0 0 0 0 5 0| 0 0 8| 0 0 0 0 4 0| 0 0 0| 6 0 3 -------+-------+------ 0 0 4| 0 0 0| 2 0 1 2 0 0| 5 4 9| 0 0 7 7 0 6| 0 0 0| 4 0 0 -------+-------+------ 9 0 8| 0 0 0| 0 3 0 0 0 0| 3 0 0| 0 4 0 0 0 0| 9 7 0| 0 5 0 John - John@number-logic.com November 30 at 3:44 PM Yeah, there's a server issue that we can't figure out. This same exact thing happened before but somehow cured itself a few hours later with no intermittence by me. Go figure. Because Tivilon isnt hosting the site, it's difficult to contact and work on the site from a 3rd party. Seems the server is cutting off code at random points, hence why only parts of the pages are displayed. Please stick around, it will be up, hopefully by this evening. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com November 30 at 1:49 PM If you need a fix until the site is up, try this one: [ ][ ][ ] [ ][8][1] [ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ] [3][ ][ ] [ ][4][ ] [ ][5][ ] [ ][ ][ ] [2][ ][ ] [4][ ][ ] [ ][5][ ] [ ][ ][9] [2][ ][ ] [ ][1][ ] [ ][ ][6] [8][ ][ ] [ ][9][ ] [ ][ ][7] [ ][ ][1] [ ][ ][ ] [ ][8][ ] [ ][3][ ] [ ][ ][7] [ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ] [4][6][ ] [ ][ ][ ] I apologize for the spacing.. I tried. When it's up that's the Impossible from yesterday (I think) Star - ophilye@gmail.com November 30 at 1:35 PM The site is having problems today. John & Ryan are trying to figure it out. You're just going to have to count to 9 a couple times until they get it up again, Tarindel. :-D Star - ophilye@gmail.com November 30 at 1:28 PM Whoops, the Today's puzzles page is showing 7 boxes in the first column, not 10. I can't count. :) I see this: [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [][][] [] Clearing the cache and refreshing don't help. Is the website acting screwy today, or is it the fact that I upgraded to firefox 1.5? I can't access the members page (it comes up blank), and the Today's Puzzles page shows a blank sudoku on the left with an extra box in the bottom left corner (the first column has 10 boxes...) and nothing else. I need a "clear" button. Something that will reset ALL of the boxes. When I make a mistake it's just easier for me to start over then trying to go back & find the error. As it is, it takes me forever to highlight & delete every entry. Like the updates, such as seeing my average times. Just not sure I like everyone else being able to see, lol. Stephanie - steffdog_66869@yahoo.com November 10 at 8:51 PM hey qavac I'll just send you an email and explain how validate works, its easier then trying to explain it here. Glad you like the site, thanks! john - john@number-logic.com November 10 at 2:01 PM where does one submit website/puzzle bugs? bugs: 1. puzzle validation doesn't work a. I added "2" twice to a 3x3 and press the validation button. 2. successful puzzle not listed in my member area 3. while typing comments a line appears on the fifth line in the input field. 4. average time not listed in finished puzzle qavac - qavac@aol.com November 10 at 1:43 PM Hi Has anyone studied Intuitionist Logic? I've studied Propositional Logic and Predicate Logic, but i haven't had the opportunity to study Intuitionist Logic. Does anyone know how it differs from conventional logic? Jan - matthiassammer6@yahoo.co.uk November 10 at 12:33 PM The current top-3 is a quick fix to prevent cheaters from occupying the top spots each time (we're working on a method to detect cheating using a solver). The averages as they are right now, are based off of all your puzzles, but the list reflects the top 3 averages of those people playing puzzles for that day. It is being refined soon as well. CJG, that is also part of the refinement :-). Check back in the next few days folks. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com November 9 at 6:55 PM I have no clue how those are calculated. I play all levels and that seems to be only slightly higher than my average for easy puzzles. I would figure my actual average to be around 7-9 minutes. JK - jkessinger@comcast.net November 9 at 5:05 PM Would it be possible to list top 3 average times by difficulty? I'm guessing it's pretty hard to crack that list if you're playing on Hard puzzles from time to time. Love the site! cjg - cgrischow@comcast.net November 9 at 2:01 PM It's definitely possible for certain puzzles to have more than one answer. I started working on a small computer program that solves (non-brute-force) Sodoku puzzles. So far it solves completely the ones that have only one answer and solves the rest down to the point where the multiple solutions would "diverge". If anyone's interested I could link to the code. Alex - alex.hertzog@gmail.com November 8 at 7:49 PM It is possible that one of the puzzles has more then one answer. I make each puzzle by hand and its possible I made a mistake or put the numbers in wrong when I posted it. What puzzle # was it? John - john@number-logic.com November 7 at 10:51 AM Hi, I just found your site and tried one of your impossible level puzzles. I found a number of possible answers. Is this right or have I made a mistake? Glen - glen.watson@saabsystems.com.au November 6 at 9:43 PM I could do 10 digit however there are 2 problems with that. This site is currently only set to use 9X9 puzzles. And you would have to make random sized boxes of 10 squares instead of nice and neat 3X3 bowes like it is currently. John - john@number-logic.com November 4 at 12:56 PM Why not, by my suggestion at least, consider 10-digit Sudoku which would include the zero? That alone would make the now-popular game more difficult than with just 1 to 9 inside each puzzle that there already is! It also can mean crossword puzzles, after 75 years of those, are suddenly bye- bye! Marty (Costa Mesa) - MarCaro613@msn.com November 4 at 12:38 PM How about a part in the Members Area that we can see what our own personal time is? Then we know if we're getting better or worse.. Or average time by level of puzzle? Star - tyfanie_star@hotmail.com November 3 at 2:29 PM Logite- Email me with questions ill be happy to help. IMGido- Thanks, we re working hard to get 2 player mode ready soon. Thats going to be really cool. John - John@number-logic.com October 29 at 11:34 AM John, Thanks for the site and continuing to fix the bugs. Great job. IMGuido - IMGuido@gmail.com October 29 at 11:29 AM Lol, don't worry, Ski, I'll take care of that for ya soon. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com October 26 at 11:07 AM Thanks for all the great comments folks, keep them comming to help us make the site better and more fun to use. John - john@number-logic.com October 26 at 9:43 AM Star, Oddly enough, I just fixed that bug 5 minutes ago. Also, you no longer have to keep logging in each time you close the browser. Tarindel, Sounds like a good idea, I'll look into it. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com October 25 at 5:46 PM One problem is getting logged out when you're in the middle of a game. I like to take most of the day to finish a puzzle, only doing it for 5 minutes here, 2 minutes there... until it's fixed. Unfortunately, like today, I finished the puzzle successfully, but when I went to look at my profile, 1) I wasn't logged in, then after I logged in, 2) it showed I had tried it but not finished it successfully. Kinda' a bummer... Star - ophilye@gmail.com October 25 at 5:14 PM There is no length on the comments. Odd how yours were being cut off. And I like the idea of using averages instead. As I said, all comments are welcome and hope to make the site something everyone can enjoy. Also, those wanting a re-count of their scores (due to the bug) should email me (or see the news post in the members section). Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com October 25 at 4:21 PM I lost a few games to that bug (5, that I know of). Any way to get my record fixed? Mike - mallen@mit.edu October 25 at 11:21 AM I realize that too. That will be fixed soon. Thanks for the note. Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com October 20 at 11:17 AM the sept 27th puzzle can be done without a guess. dont give up... john - john@number-logic.com September 28 at 10:19 AM I think "Oops" may have meant Sept 27 (id=146). It sure seems like a guess is needed to complete it. Matthew - azami@speakeasy.net September 28 at 9:26 AM Are you sure that the August 22nd Impossible has a solution? Oops - mariondallas@yahoo.com September 27 at 7:24 PM heard about this before, but dident know much about it, very fun and cool game, goto think quite a bit. CW - CW@your_not_getting_it.com September 25 at 9:57 AM The idea that numbers have logic is amazing to me. This site proves the strength of the human brain in its uses of numbers... Way to go John making a site people enjoy. A++ Jared Johnson - jaredethanjohnson@yahoo.com September 21 at 11:40 AM more space in the scratchpad - maybe make the puzzle a slightly larger size on the screen but great site, and variety of difficulty. thanks!! kel - starlitskyy@hotmail.com September 18 at 1:44 PM Yes, I second what "rnd" said - 3 pencil marks instead of 2 would be great! Amy - ladybugstudio@cfl.rr.com September 6 at 9:15 AM Pretty nice set of puzzles. Just a suggestion... How about allowing *3* chars in the "scratchpad" part of the UI instead of 2? That would make leaving pencil marks a lot more useful! rnd - qzrrbz@yahoo.com September 6 at 12:36 AM We appreciate all the comments and support. We are taking any changes into consideration as well. Also, keep checking back in the next few weeks to see some great new features, such as user profiles highlighting high wins and record times, a members message board, as well as the first-ever online multiplayer sudoku game (or so we think)! Ryan - rpeters@tivilon.com September 2 at 1:15 AM This site is great. More competition for sites like websodoku.com and sudokusan.com Jeff - jeffloeb@sbcglobal.net September 1 at 6:36 PM Cool website and great quality puzzles! Wish I could play all day, fun to do during breaks at work. Susan - soupyrd@yahoo.com September 1 at 3:00 PM A great learning experience, as I improve I will be able to move up the ladder of difficulty. Leave the game presentation just as it is. Much easier to see patterns and numbers. Less confusing than the normal presentation. Robert - sissonrd@verizon.net August 29 at 8:20 PM The puzzles are of great quality, I really like them. The grid style is nice on screen, but for printing purposes (for playing on paper) it is not so practical, if possible please make the printable grids of a "normal" style (with borders). Thanks! apatt - apatt@yahoo.com August 26 at 8:32 PM Ryan - thanks for visiting my blog and leaving this address in the comments. I am enjoying the puzzles and I like the interface very much. Good job! Amy - ladybugstudio@cfl.rr.com August 26 at 1:59 PM This site is great! However, due to the amount of time it takes up in my work day, I am in danger of getting fired. Damn you John. Jason - jason.sturgill@morganstanley.com August 25 at 10:41 AM The puzzles are fun, but to hard for me. It makes my brain hurt. Albert E. - E@mcsquared.net August 24 at 3:55 PM |
